Below is the proposed club rules to be voted on at the A.G.M
If any one wishes to propose ammendments to these rules please do so at the A.G.M

    1. Do not trespass. Obtain permission before venturing on to any land.

    2. Respect the Country Code and all property visited. Do not leave gates open, and do not damage crops or frighten animals

    .

    3. Do not leave a mess or an unsafe surface for those who may follow. It is perfectly simple to extract a coin or other small object buried a few inches below the ground without digging a great hole. Use a suitable digging implement to cut a neat flap (do not remove the plug of earth entirely from the ground), extract the object, reinstate the grass, sand or soil carefully, and even you will have difficulty in locating the find spot again.

    4. If you discover any live ammunition or any lethal object such as an unexploded bomb or mine, do not disturb it. Mark the site carefully and report the find to the local police and landowner and club committee on site.

    5. Help keep Britain tidy. Safely dispose of any refuse you come across.

    6. Report all unusual historical finds to the landowner, and acquaint yourself with current NCMD policy relating to the Voluntary Reporting of Portable Antiquities.

    7. Remember it is illegal for anyone to use a metal detector on a protected area (e.g. scheduled archaeological site, SSSI, or Ministry of Defense property) without permission from the appropriate authority.

    8. Acquaint yourself with the definitions of Treasure contained in the Treasure Act 1996 and its associated Code of Practice, making sure you understand your responsibilities.

    9. Remember that when you are out with your metal detector you are an ambassador for our hobby and DDMDC. Do nothing that might give either a bad name.

    10. Never miss an opportunity to explain your hobby to anyone who asks about it.

    11. No member to return back to a club dig site or rally site after a event as finished unless on another club dig at the same site as this will be subject to their membership at our club been revoked immediately.

    12. We do not allow members of other clubs to become members of DDMDC. Neither do we allow DDMDC members to join other cubs without first resigning as a DDMDC member.

    13. Any members bringing any artifacts/coins etc: that have been acquired or bought-and then brought to the club and portrayed as found on club digs or rallies will be brought in front of the clubs committee and permanently banned this is unfair to club members paying entry fees....please be truthful and loyal to your club and our clubs finds liaison officer about your finds giving false information about finds means the Portable Antiquities Scheme system will be then giving false information to the public and other researchers of the database .. GIVING FALSE INFORMATION TO THE F.L.O COULD ALSO CONSTITUTE A CRIMINAL OFFENCE IN SOME CASES .

    14. Any members injured or involved in a accident or witnesses a accident please contact a committee member immediately on dig site to get first aid and all accident info logged in a accident book {please don’t leave till later for insurance purposes} all info must be sharp in your mind and accurate in case of insurance claim..

    15. Members attending a club dig in their own vehicle MUST DISPLAY A CAR CLUB CARD in the vehicle .

    16. The Dewsbury district metal detecting clubs committee and members and the landowners of farmland and club land detected upon cannot be held responsible for any damage or belongings stolen from vehicles only bring what you need .

    17. Any member found to be passing on information that is solely for the use of DDMDC members shall be asked to leave the club immediately and removed from the forum.

    18. Any member found to be dealing or taking drugs whilst on club digs or whilst attending meetings / functions will be asked to leave immediately and removed from the forum .
